At Voluntary Action Coventry we’re here for people who want to engage, connect or volunteer in their community and what better way to take stock and celebrate how volunteering enriches the lives of people and communities in Coventry than on International Volunteering Day (5.12.24). You might even like to get involved yourself?
Volunteering opens doors on future
Participants on our volunteering course, Improving Lives, have been out and about with our team recently finding out how voluntary work can support them, as well as their local community. From increasing your wellbeing and confidence, to developing your employability skills, a voluntary role can open so many doors. Pictured here, Pramegh and Angela are lending a hand at the warehouse of Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Volunteers donate their time to check thousands of shoeboxes filled with gifts before they’re sent to children in need around the world.
Chat Central Champs – dedication in action
International Volunteers Day gives Chat Central the perfect opportunity to say a huge thank you to our dedicated litter pickers who meet up every Friday, come rain or shine, to help keep the streets of Coventry clean. Here are a few photos of the team in action over the past twelve months – a whopping 350 bags of litter filled, 500 volunteering hours completed by a mighty team of 27 regular volunteers.
Three cheers for Chat Central champ, Michael Haines, who has completed more than 80 litter-picks over the past 18 months and said, “It’s a good way to get out of the house and meet new people”. Thank you so much Chat Central volunteers – your contribution is amazing.
