Hip, hip hooray for Volunteers’ Week 2024

This year Volunteers’ Week (3 – 9 June) is celebrating 40 years of inspiring people to make a difference. From open days to celebration events, online and in–person activities are taking place across the UK for this national celebration of volunteering. Here at Voluntary Action Coventry we have organised a special event to thank our fabulous volunteers who help us deliver our services and we have some fantastic opportunities planned for everyone to find out more about volunteering. Come to a drop-in event  – you can discuss what you would like to do as a volunteer and we’ll help you find a role or why not try your hand at volunteering and come along to a taster session with our Chat Central Crew?  Read on for more details.

What’s Happening and Where

Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 June, 10am – 12pm Volunteering Coffee Morning  Volunteers’ Week Special! Voluntary Action Coventry, Harp Place, 2 Sandy Lane CV1 4DX 

Join us for coffee and refreshments to find out how to get involved in volunteering and the benefits it can bring you. 

Find out about:

  • The latest voluntary roles available in Coventry – a huge range from gardening and caring to administration and foodbank support
  • Improving Lives: our amazing volunteering course – we can enrol you and there is no cost
  • Employability support     

Our friendly team are available to answer all your questions. All welcome and there will be free tea, coffee and biscuits.to enjoy.

Tuesday 4 June – An Evening at Positive Youth Foundation

Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 June, 10.30am – 2.30pm Improving Lives is at Job Shop, West Orchards

The Chat Central Team are out and about in Volunteers’ Week- why not come and join an activity? 

These two events are great opportunities to spend some time in the fresh air, pick up some gardening skills, and do something fab for our community. These are a great chance for you to come and try out volunteering in a supported environment and find out more about how you could link with the organisations.

Tuesday 4 June, Gardening Volunteering with Team Springboard at Lakeview Allotments, 1pm – 3.30pm

Plant, sow, water and harvest a range of plants, fruits and vegetables. Enjoy the friendly and calming atmosphere of the community allotments and find out how to become a volunteer with Team Springboard. If you’d like to join in with this green-fingered activity, get in touch with the Chat Central team, so we know you are coming. We’re meeting at Pool Meadow Bus Station at 12.15pm.

Friday 7 June, Creating a Community Garden at CROW Recycling, 10.30am – 2pm
